3rd Year of Princess Haya Award for Special Education Extended to cover all special needs centers in the Arab World

Dubai 18 September 2010: The executive committee of Princess Haya Award has announced the commencement of the 3rd round of the award. The committee will be accepting nominations from 15 December 2010 till January 15 2011. Entry is open to all special needs centers in the Arab world.


Princess Haya Award for Special Education recognizes exceptional individuals working in the special needs sector. The purpose of the award is to promote excellence and advance the type of services offered. It also aims at acknowledging the tireless efforts of individuals in rehabilitating children with special needs and encourages them to continue their journey towards excellence.

The Award has four main categories: exceptional specialists, institutional excellence, exceptional parents, and Corporate Social responsibility. The first category covers those who are on a daily contact with the children such as exceptional special educator, clinical psychologist, educational psychologist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, IT teacher, music teacher, art teacher. The second category covers an important segment inductive to excellence such as: Exceptional center, special education supervisors, managing directors, administrators, IT specialist, research, educational projects, awareness and fund raising campaigns as well as web sites.

Parents are an important element of the educational process hence a category was dedicated to them. Social corporate responsibility is an integral part of special needs without them there is little that the sector can achieve; the award acknowledge the exceptional role and efforts of companies, institutions, volunteers and board members who go beyond the call of duty to support and progress the cause and services of these centers.

Mr. Mohammad Al Emadi, head of the executive committee, declared that the Award has generated a lot of interest as it is open to participation for all the centers in the Arab world.

“Princess Haya Award for Special Education is a quantum leap to all those working in the special needs sector. It also highlights the role of social work supporters and encourages creativity and excellence through exceptional individuals and institutions that are working to advance this sector.” Al Emadi added.
